To provide the app's core features, we store the profile details you provide (weight, height, age, gender, goal), the food and activity entries you log, and any dietary preferences or allergies you choose to add.
To use the app, you agree that your logged food, activity, and profile data may be used to improve the AI nutrition assistant — for example, refining how it estimates calories and macros, tunes its suggestions, and handles similar situations for you and other users in the future. This is treated as part of operating and improving the app's core AI feature, not as a separate marketing or analytics use.
Where this data is used in combination with other users' data (rather than just your own conversation history) to improve the assistant generally, we do so in aggregated form and do not attach your name, email, or username to it.
To generate meal suggestions and answer questions, the AI assistant sends the relevant parts of your profile, preferences, and logged food/activity to our AI provider (currently Groq) for processing. We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers. Transactional emails (password reset, welcome message) are sent through our email provider (currently Brevo). These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
We keep your account and logged data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile and logs are removed; aggregated/anonymized data already used to improve the assistant (see above) is not tied back to you and is not deleted, since it no longer identifies you.
Passwords are stored one-way hashed and are never visible to us, including to administrators. Connections to the app are encrypted (HTTPS) once deployed publicly. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
We use a session cookie to keep you logged in — this is required for the app to work and isn't used for advertising or tracking across other sites. Some features (chat history, language preference) are stored in your browser's local storage rather than sent to our servers.
You can review or change your data-consent setting at any time from your profile page. You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated data, by contacting us at the email below. If you are in the EU/UK, these are your rights under GDPR; we aim to respond within a reasonable time.
Shape Goal is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
If this policy changes in a material way, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
